hey!
today concluded the all so exciting JCC MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP.
im so happy to say that....
I WON I WON I WON I WON I WON I WON HEARD ME I WON I WON I WON I WON I WON I WON.
ok right now that's done,... lets see how it happened.
played my quarter finals against CHONG ZHENG. won 5 & 4. he obviously isn't too familiar with the course layout haha.
played my semi finals against non other than ANG CHING LENG. haha. won 4 & 2. i was 5 up with 6 to play and a one hour rain delay screwed my momentum abit. but i birdied 16th to finally end it off on a good note.
today was the finals, and it was hell of an exciting one.
i was 2 up on the first nine. some interesting things that happened on the front nine...
2nd hole i hit iron off the par 4 tee and went behind a tree. had to lay up for a bogeye. harry(my opponent), hits a driver, has 60meters left, and hits it into the bunker, then skulls the following shot to the back of the green, plays double and my bogeye is good enough for the win.
4th hole i hit it into shit, almost ob. and he had easy 2 put win.
5th hole i sunk a 12 footer for birdie to win.
6th hole sunk another 12 footer for birdie to win.
now the back nine was where it got interesting.
after 12, i was 1 up after dunking my second shot into the water on the right for no reason.
on the 13th, harry hits a nice draw which catches the edge of the lamp post on the left and hits straight back into the water. i was freaking lucky! back to 2up.
on the 14th i hit it 20meters right of the green. hit a great chip but missed the 6footer to halve the hole. back to 1up.
on the 15th, hit a GREAT DRIVE OMG SO FAR. and harry was 15meters behind me, hits it to 2 feet. i was thinking, wtf do i have to do to seal this game. i hit it to 5 feet and sunk it to halve the hole. he was thinking now what HE had to do to win me. remained 1 up.
on the 16th harry hit an excellent approach to 2 feet and i had like 20feet for birdie. i 2putted for par and harry chokes the 2 footer. apparently his ball was in a hole and it jumped straight left when he put it.
on the 17th i missed easiest up and down to halve the hole. all square going to the last now.
on the 18th...................... i hit 3 wood into rough. harry hits driver center. my ball was like plugged in the rough but it obviously rolled there so there was no relief. i hit it 50meters, and had 200 meters for my 3rd shot. harry hits another 3wood to 60meters left. i hit 3 wood over the green by 20meters on a downhill slope. harry hits it to 10feet. i over chip and it rolls to the front of the green. i was thinking, fuck this is over 2 putts for him to win. i chip the ball and it rolls into the hole. i fell to the ground and went
OH MY FUCK. harry 2 putts and its play off time.
1st play off hole(10th), i hit tee shot into water. harry narrowly avoids water. he punches the ball into the hazard on the right of the green. and i told myself, hit it on the green 2 putt bogeye and ill probably half the hole. i slice my ball into the same shit as him. he takes THREE SHOTS to get out. and was 6feet for 6. i was 3 in the hazard, so i just needed to get it on. my lie was SHIT and i skulled the shot into the back bunker. hit an amazing shot, which lid the cup, tap in 6. harry sinks his putt and we go to the 11th.
2nd play off hole(11th), i hit right almost ob but it was ok. harry hits into the hazard, and decides to play from there, hits an ok out, but tops his 3rd shot. i lay up nicely and hit it close to the hole for a birdie and to finally... seal the match!
ok it was interesting at the end but quite lucky for me. harry could have easily won it but thank god for the luck he has shone on me this time round.
looking forward to some story telling in school! haha.
